Working on the Home page

The home page is of course the fanciest part of a website. Below are 5 tutorial videos that show you the different types of things you can do while working on it - such as adding a video, animating some type on top of that video, working with a column layout, making a slideshow with a simple vector animation and adding a gallery.

While a website is of course a horizontal format, into which you would ideally prefer to place horizontal (or landscape) videos, due to the popularity of phone videography nowadays we also have a lot of vertically formatted videos. So, how could we use them on a home page? The video below shows you one way of doing it:


Note: I am increasingly coming to the conclusion that possibly the best place to look for creative commons licensed videos is pexels where there is a huge collection of HD and 4K videos in both horizontal and vertical formats. The videos used in the tutorial above are from there. The video editor I am using is OpenShot, a free software for both PC and Mac that is more than adequate for the modest needs of preparing website covers.
